Current Activities

My ongoing activities

- During the International Confederation of Midwives' Triennial Council (07-09 June 2023) and 33rd Triennial Congress (11-14 June 2023) held in Bali, Indonesia, I had the honor of being endorsed as a Board Member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) representing the South-East Asia region for three years (June 2023-June 2026). Through the online election process conducted by the ICM Independent Election Committee, I was elected for this position, and the formal endorsement took place in Bali during the ICM Triennial Council.

- Since April 2015, I have dedicated myself as a full-time volunteer social worker, actively involved in various non-profit organizations. Some of the organizations I have worked with include the Midwifery Society of Nepal, Beyond Beijing Committee Nepal, Community Leadership Nepal Foundation, Safe Motherhood Network Federation, and Tamang Rastriya Pustakalaya (Tamang National Library).

- Continuously actively involving in advocacy to accelerate midwifery workforce development as per the government of Nepal, Ministry of Health policies, plans and strategies.

- Since 29 May, 2016 as a visiting faculty member started to take classes for Master in Nursing specialisation in Women's Health and Development students as well as Bachelor of Midwifery students of National Academy of Medical Science Bir Hospital Nursing Campus.

- Networking with the like-minded people both in-country and abroad, attending meeting with them almost every weekend here in Nepal and via email and facebook conversations abroad as well as within Nepal.

- Actively facilitating four facebook groups, namely Nepal Public Health Professional (>19000 members), Nepalese Nurses (>19500 members), and Midwifery Society of Nepal (>6000 members).

- Coordinating with the Dalarna University, Sweden; and the University of British Columbia, Canada to assist them for their midwifery student elective placement in different public hospitals of Nepal, namely Maternity Hospital, Thapathali; Bharatpur Hospital, Chitwan and Seti Zonal Hospital, Dhangadi.

- Ongoing contribution on the online discussion communities i.e. WHO's Global Alliance for Nursing and Midwifery, Global Health Delivery Project Online Discussion Forum of Global Health Nursing and Midwifery, and facebook groups such as AusAIDs' ALA scholars, Nepal Public Health Professional, Nepalese Nurses, Fighting Against Sexual Harassment and Violence, Entrepreneurs Nepal, and Nepal Unites and few more.


Completed Activities:

-As a lead research of "Abortion Stigmatisation attitudes and beliefs and its effect in accessing safe abortion service" a qualitative study that is being carrying out in four districts of Nepal, namely Jhapa (Province 1), Parsa (Province 2), Gorkha (Province 4) and Surkhet (Province 6)  I am involving with Beyond Beijing Committee from May 2018 to Dec 2019.

- As a co-investigator of "Developing Peer Support for Adolescent Friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health Services" a case-control intervention study carrying out in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts of province 3 it is being carrying out through Women's Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC). This project has been funded by Grand Challenges Stars in Reproductive Health 2017/18
as proposed by Jill Allison from Newfoundland University Canada, Laxmi Tamang from WOREC and Rajendra Paudel from Aamakomaya from May 2018 to Dec 2019.

- As a co-investigator of "Simulation Based Training in Prevention and Management of Birth Asphyxia and postpartum heamorrhage: An Educational Intervention to Midwifery Educators" an quasi experimental one group pre and post study carrying out by Midwifery Society of Nepal among nursing educators teaching midwifery for PCL level nursing students in the nursing colleges affiliated with CTEVT of province 1, 2 and 3 funded by Laerdal Foundation, from July 2018 to Dec 2019. 


- As a lead co-investigator of Peer Ethnography and Key Influencers studies on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management in 12 districts of Nepal at Mother and Infant Research Activities (MIRA) funded by PSI Nepal completed six month research project in September 2017. This project was designed under my leadership along with my co-workers, Dr. Suresh Tamang, Dr. Sachin Ghimire and Radha Paudel, PhD candidate and awarded through bidding with other research institutions of the countries.

- Extensively involved in post earthquake relief activities especially related to sexual and reproductive health that include re-strengthening and re-establishing birthing services and conducing health camps and distributing Swayer water filter in birthing centres and public schools.

- Reviewed literature relating to the dissertation project paper i.e. youth sexual and reproductive health and services, sexually transmitted infections and its health seeking behaviour among Nepalese youth with gender and culture perspectives.

- Supported for Namo Buddha Social harmony and peace rally organised by Sanjivani on August 2012.

- AusAID's Leadership Development Program coaching every alternate friday via skype with Mr. Grant Cullen, Curtin Univeristy, Perth.

- Leadership Development Program internship at the Family Planning, New South Wales from July 25 till Oct 25, 2011.
